The Textile Vessels project is an ongoing exploration in which found ceramic objects are used as skeletons for three-dimensional textile experiments, creating a dialogue between surface and structure.
Melvær incorporates silk, wool, and selvages from her Røros Tweed designs, employing techniques ranging from traditional band weaving to digital jacquard. The slow, labor-intensive process invites reflection on time, material, and value. Each piece serves as a quiet protest against fast consumption—and a vessel for memory, craft, and transformation.
All the vessels are hand made in Melvær’s studio in Oslo in 2025 in collaboration with intern Thea Emilia Stjernberg Vågen.
The Textile Vessels webpage provides more information about the project.
